Southside, an “undesirable” neighborhood for many, is a vibrant community that is used as a laboratory for the many environmental issues in Syracuse. From being cut-off from the rest of Syracse by the interstate, to the waste water treatment plant Southside is a neighborhood with numerous environmental justice issues. Originally from Nebraska, Forrest Teske, a Southside resident, environmental activist, and core organizing member of the Syracuse Democratic Socialist of America, discusses the issues and stigmas regarding Southside.
