Raising awareness about environmental racism and fighting stigma and injustice in our local community
Environmental racism can affect low-income and/or minority communities. It is defined as exclusion of these communities from the decision making process, even if untintentional, and the enactment or enforcement of any law or practice that negatively affects them at a greater rate than wealthy communities.
This site is a project of four SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry students. We're excited to have to opportunity to reach out past the campus community and make a difference in the lives of other Syracuse residents while making those who stumble upon this sight, locally or not, question some of their views and learn more about the newly coined term of "Environmental Racism."
